Ciamba (MAE): The Republic of Moldova remains major priority on Romania's agenda

The Republic of Moldova remains a major priority on Romania's agenda, including from the standpoint of the preparations for the Eastern Partnership Summit of Riga, Secretary of State for European Affairs George Ciamba said on Wednesday, during a meeting with Republic of Moldova Foreign Affairs and European Integration Deputy Minister Iulian Groza.

According to a Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE) release sent to AGERPRES, Ciamba gave guarantees on the continuation of Romania's approach in this respect, "namely keeping the ambitious objectives of the Eastern Partnership in report with the most advanced eastern partners in the relation with the EU, such as the Republic of Moldova."

The Romanian Secretary of State highlighted the need for the Republic of Moldova to make the most of the current moment, marked by the new Government's investiture, as "a window of opportunity" for reaffirming the will to continue the European path of the country and highlighted the importance of the Eastern Partnership Summit to take place in Riga in May.

Ciamba underscored that the European partners' expectations concerning the consolidation of the reforms and the implementing of the Association Agreement are high and showed the need for a sustained pace of the reforms and for obtaining concrete results in the process of modernisation and accession to the European Union.
