Photo exhibition of prominent figures in African film

BELGRADE - An exhibition entitled Great Figures of African and Caribbean Cinematography will be opened at the French Institute in Belgrade on March 12.

The exhibition marks the 50th anniversary of the African film archive of the French Institute. Photographers Laurent Macarie from Martinique and Samuel Nja Kwa from Cameroon will present protraits of film stars who have left a mark on the African and Caribbean film history, the French Institute stated.

The African film archive was established in 1961 and contains 1,600 films that represent one of the most important collections of African and Caribbean flims.

The exhibition is part of the Month of Francophony, and it will include 23 photographs from the 10th edition of the Bamako Photography Encounters, which will be held in Mali in November.

The portraits show actors and directors of the later generation, whose films will be featured as part of the Francophone Film Festival.

The festival will include films from Congo, Senegal, Burkina Faso and Mali. It will start at the Yugoslav Film Archive on March 20, but continue at Dom Omladine and the Fontana cinema theatre.

The photo exhibition Great Figures of African and Caribbean Cinematography will be opened until April 18.
