Committee approves lex specialis, Democrats against

BELGRADE - The Serbian parliament's finance committee approved on Thursday a bill governing the expropriation of land and the issuance of building permits for the Belgrade Waterfront project, despite opposition from the Democrats.

The Serbian parliament will discuss this lex specialis at the sitting scheduled to take place on March 18.

The efficient and fair expropriation of land will pave the way for the realization of the Belgrade Waterfront project as soon as possible, Assistant Minister of Finance Radmila Jagodic said, elaborating on the bill.

The expropriating authority will be the Republic of Serbia, and the land will be taken at the market price, Jagodic said.
