Dutch UN Helicopter Crashes in Mali

A Dutch UN helicopter crashed on Tuesday in northern Mali near the city of Gao, killing two people.

The cause of the crash remains unclear and so far there have been comments neither from the Dutch defence ministry nor from the UN peacekeeping mission, the BBC reports.

The helicopter is from the UN's MINUSMA peacekeeping mission, which was established in 2013 and is tasked with stabilising the country after the Tuareg rebellion in 2012.

According to reports, two crew members died from injuries suffered in the crash, which appeared to be an accident.
