The picturesque port-town of Pothia is the largest city of Kalymnos, built amphitheatrically over the foot and slopes of two hills and the valley between them. Stroll through the city’s narrow streets to admire the old mansions and the one-storey sponge-harvesters’ houses.

Among the churches that stand out include Sotiras Christos, built in 1861 and Agios Nikolaos church. The town also boasts several fascinating attractions, including the Archaeological Museum, the Maritime Museum, the castle of Chrysocheria, built in the 15th century and the landmark of the island, its three stone-built windmills!
