Eighth suspect for crime in Srebrenica arrested

BELGRADE - Serbian Deputy War Crimes Prosecutor Bruno Vekaric confirmed for Tanjug on Wednesday that the eighth suspect for war crime against civilians in the territory of the village of Kravica, Srebrenica in eastern Bosnia, has been arrested.

At the warrant issued by the Serbian Prosecutor's Office early on Wednesday, seven individuals were arrested at different locations in the country, and Vekaric said that the eighth suspect was captured in Novi Sad.

The list of arrested suspects includes former members of the Jahorina Training Centre within the Special Police Brigade of the Republika Srpska interior ministry who are suspected of having committed a war crime against over 1,000 Muslim civilians.

Vekaric noted that the arrest of the eight suspects comes as a result of good regional cooperation and primarily the cooperation between the Serbian Interior Ministry and the Serbian War Crimes Prosecutor's Office.

The prosecution and interior ministry are still searching for several more people who are believed to be in the neighboring countries, says the release.
