Udovicki: EU will help Serbia reform public administration

BRUSSELS - Serbia's Deputy Prime Minister and Public Administration Minister Kori Udovicki said after meeting with senior officials of the European Commission (EC) in Brussels Friday that the EU was willing to technically and financially support the reform of the public administration in Serbia.

"I presented before them an action plan for the reform that the government approved yesterday and it has been met with full approval here," reporters were told by Udovicki, who met with Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn and EC Vice-President Kristalina Georgieva at the EU headquarters.

Udovicki said that the opening of accession negotiations Chapter 32, Financial Control, would help the reform to be conducted more efficiently, adding that the officials she had spoke to in Brussels had agreed about that.

"We hope that the chapter will be opened very soon," she said.

Udovicki is taking part in the Brussels Forum, a gathering of world leaders and people of influence organized by the German Marshall Fund, today and tomorrow.
