Montenegro and Serbia want to take on other markets together

PODGORICA/BELGRADE - Montenegro and Serbia will prepare an agreement on joint efforts in other markets, according to what was agreed at a meeting between Montenegro's Minister of Economy Vladimir Kavaric and Serbia's Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Rasim Ljajic in Podgorica on Monday.

The countries of the Western Balkans, even though they compete between each other, should join forces and improve the quality of their offer, the participants of the meeting said, the portal CdM has reported.

JOINT GOV'T SITTING IN APRIL

Serbia's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Rasim Ljajic has said that there is potential for increasing the volume of trade between Serbia and Montenegro to EUR 1 billion, and that one of the objectives of his visit to Podgorica on Monday has been to agree a joint sitting of the two governments.

Ljajic said that the first joint sitting of the governments of Serbia and Montenegro should be held in April at the latest and take good relations between the two countries even further.

As released, Ljajic met in Podgorica with Montenegro's Minister of Sustainable Development and Tourism Branimir Gvozdenovic, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Information Society and Telecommunications Vujica Lazovic and Minister of Economy Vladimir Kavaric.

"The trade stood at EUR 620 million in 2014, which is insufficient, taking into account the quality of relations, compatibility of the economies," Ljajic said after the meeting with the three Montenegrin ministers.
