ForMin Aurescu sends condolences to families of victims of French Alps aircrash; activates crisis cell

Minister of Foreign Affairs Bogdan Aurescu has sent, on Tuesday, his condolences to the families of passengers aboard the Germanwings plane that crashed in the French Alps.

"It is a great loss and tragedy", said Aurescu, in a tweet.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bogdan Aurescu, has also disposed the activation of a Ministry of Foreign Affairs crisis cell, through which the activity of all Romanian diplomatic missions involved in obtaining information is coordinated, a release remitted to AGERPRES informs.

"The Romanian General Consul in Barcelona has requested the support of the sub-delegate of the Spanish Government and of the Director of the Barcelona Airport in order to verify information regarding the existence of a Romanian citizen aboard the plane that crashed and to obtain the passenger list. Furthermore, a mobile consular team of the Barcelona Consulate has traveled to the airport for the purpose of obtaining concrete information regarding the citizenship of the victims, with emergency meetings with Spanish officials to follow", adds MAE in the quoted release.

According to the release, in parallel with the steps taken in Barcelona, the Romanian Embassy in Berlin has requested the support of the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Germanwings company to obtain the passenger list.

Furthermore, the Romanian Embassy in Paris has initiated a similar demarche with the French Foreign ministry, and at the level of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of France an interministerial crisis cell was created to manage the accident.
