"We celebrate today 97 years since the adoption of the Declaration of Union of Basarabia with the Kingdom of Romania. In those watershed moments in which the history of the entire continent was written a clear choice was made to affirm the common values of the peoples on both sides of the Pruth River, to fulfill the ideals of freedom and dignity, to complete the national project", said Aurescu, in the message remitted on Friday to AGERPRES.

The head of Romanian diplomacy adds that presently the citizens of the Republic of Moldova made a clear choice to return and fully integrate in the democratic European family.

"This political project ? the most ambitious and most courageous since the proclamation of independence of the neighboring state ? is built day by day, under our very eyes, on the basis of the popular effort and wish, on the basis of the free choice of the citizens of the Republic of Moldova. This political project is today the essence of the Strategic Partnership between Romania and the Republic of Moldova. We stand beside with the Republic of Moldova, all its citizens, in the effort to construct the common European future. We believe that it is within our power, on one side and the other of the Pruth River, to fulfill the European destiny of the Republic of Moldova", emphasizes Bogdan Aurescu, at the end of his message.
