Campaign to boycott tabloid 'Bild' emerges in Germany

Controversial Bild tabloid's no-holes-barred media coverage of the Germanwings plane crash in the French Alps last month has generated a social media backlash in Germany, with a Twitter hashtag ? #bildboykott - widely circulating this week.

A Facebook entry by an ARAL gas and fast food outlet in Rhineland-Palatinate, saying it was taking the tabloid over the shelves, went viral in Germany, causing other retailers to yank Bild's copies.

The tabloid, well-known in Greece for its often extremist views of the country within the context of rocky relation with eurozone creditors, went into "overdrive" with the aviation tragedy.
