Vucic:We are grateful to Slovakia for not recognizing Kosovo

BRATISLAVA- Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic Thursday expressed gratitude to the Slovakian government for not recognizing Kosovo independence, unilaterally proclaimed by ethnic Albanians in the southern Serbian province in 2008.

"Slovakia was with Serbia and the Serbian people even in much more difficult times for us than today and that is one of the things that we highly appreciate," Vucic told a news conference after talks with Slovakia's Prime Minister Robert Fico.

Vucic stressed that Serbia was grateful to the Slovakian government for Slovakia supporting preservation of Serbia's territorial integrity and for it supporting Serbia on the European path.

Vucic said that he and Fico had also discussed the position of Slovakia's minority in Serbia.

"We see Slovaks in Serbia as a bridge between the two countries, and we will do everything that Slovakian government and Slovaks may think we should do for them," said Vucic.
