Subotica hosts Reseau Art Nouveau Network General Assembly

SUBOTICA - Subotica will host the General Assembly of the Reseau Art Nouveau Network, which includes around 20 cities of Europe whose architecture is characterised by this style, from September 10 to 13.

Official of the group Smile for Subotica Viktorija Aladzic, who took part in the recent meeting of the General Assembly in Ljubljana, told Tanjug that officials from Brussels, Barcelona, Darmstadt, Vienna, Budapest, Oradea, Nancy and other cities were expected in Subotica.

"Those are some of the large centres of Art Nouveau and it also is a tribute to our own Art Nouveau architecture," Aladzic noted.

The Reseau Art Nouveau Network has been declared a cultural route by the Council of Europe, so Subotica and its architecture will be visible in cultural tourism in that sense, she pointed out.

Subotica was accepted as a member of the Reseau Art Nouveau Network back in 2013.

The more prominent Subotica buildings that belong to this style include the Rajhl Palace and City Hall, which is one of the 10 architectural wonders of Serbia.
