Grivita high school students design system for effortless replacement of tyres

A team of students of the Grivita Technical High School of Bucharest has designed an independent car lifting system that would save drivers time and effort when replacing tyres because of a flat. The invention will represent Romania in the European final of the Skills for the Future competition this June in Prague, the Czech Republic.

"The biggest challenge was finding solutions to create the mock-up so as to prove the usefulness and operation of our system. The competition has united us as a team of students and teachers and we are satisfied with having learned how to draw up a business plan, something that will surely help us in the future. We are even seriously considering opening up shop for our specialty," Junior Achievement Romania quotes Grivita high student Daniel Maftei as saying in a press release on Monday.

Students of ten technical high schools of Romania have so far this year been visited by volunteer consultants, and they designed business ideas and simulated the creation of start-ups. Supported by mentors from Hyundai, JA Romania and professors, they developed products and services for the automotive industry and learned how to turn ideas into viable business proposals.

As well as representing Romania in the Prague competition, the finalist team will be presented an award at the Business Hall of Fame gala to be organised by JA Romania to reward the contributions of business leaders, managers or entrepreneurs to the economic and social development of communities.
