Nearly 1,800 irregular migrants repatriated in March

A total of 1,793 migrants detained in Greece without proper travel documents were returned to their homelands in March, the Greek Police reported on Tuesday.

The majority of the migrants to be repatriated by the program run jointly by Greek authorities and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) were from Albania (817 people), Pakistan (155), Georgia (101) and Bulgaria (27).

Fifty-two Syrians volunteered to return to their homeland, the police report said.
