Tennis: Sorana Cirstea qualifies for quarterfinals of doubles event at tournament in Bogota (WTA)

Romanian woman tennis player Sorana Cirstea and Kazakh Yaroslava Shvedova on Monday qualified for the quarterfinals of the doubles WTA tournament in Bogota (Columbia), equipped with total prizes worth 250,000 US dollars, after defeating No. 2 seed Mandy Minella (Luxembourg)/Olga Savciuk (Ukraine), 7-5, 6-2.

Cirstea and Shvedova won 1, 820 dollars and 60 WTA points for reaching this far in the competition, following in the quarterfinals to meet the winners of the game between Beatriz Garcia Vidagany (Spain)/Florencia Molinero (Argentina) ? Paula Cristina Goncalves/Beatriz Haddad Maia (Brazil).

In the singles event, Sorana Cirstea is going to meet American Irina Falconi, Seeded 8th, in the first round of the competition. Cirstea defeated Falconi before, in their only game played against each other, back in 2010, in Las Vegas, 6-3, 4-6, 6-3.

Ana Bogdan failed to qualify for the main draw in single after she was defeated by Slovenian Nastja Kolar, 7-5, 6-3, in the last round of qualifications, going home with 1,020 US dollars and 12 WTA points. AGERPRES
