Rakic: Citizens frightened after incidents in K. Mitrovica

KOSOVSKA MITROVICA - North Mitrovica Mayor Goran Rakic has said that citizens have got frightened after the latest incidents in that town, and urged officials from Pristina to stop stirring tensions with inflammatory rhetoric.

"Citizens in North Mitrovica are upset and scared after the incident that happened on the bridge, and I am taking this opportunity to call on officials from Pristina to stop contributing to tensions in that town with inflammatory rhetoric, and to condemn any kind of violence no matter from which community that violence comes," Rakic told Tanjug on Wednesday.

If the Kosovo police do not arrest those responsible for the incidents, they may happen again, he said on the same occasion.

The series of incidents began in Kosovska Mitrovica last Thursday, when a group of five unidentified people from the south, Albanian part of the town, crossed the main bridge over the Ibar River and attacked three young Serbs, one of whom suffered severe injuries.
