Two Serbian movies in Cannes official selection

BELGRADE - Two films from Serbia have been included in the official selection of the 68th Cannes Film Festival, which will be held this year May 13-24, the Serbian Film Center said in a release on Thursday.

These are Panama by Pavle Vuckovic and The High Sun (Zvizdan) by Dalibor Matanic.

Panama is a story of a young man who is attracted by mysterious and ambivalent behavior of a girl named Maja. After scrutinizing video recordings and traces on the Internet, protagonist named Jovan discovers her parallel life, and gets entangled in his own web of lies and jealousy.

The High Sun was filmed at locations in Knin and its surrounding, and it introduces a special approach to the Serbian-Croatian complex relationship through three stories enveloping in the 1990s, 2000s and today.

Panama will be shown as part of special projections dubbed Official Selection - Special Screenings, while Panama will be screened as part of the Un Certain Regard section.

The head of the jury for Cannes' Un Certain Regard is Italian-US actress Isabella Rossellini.
