Number of passengers having transited through Bucharest airports in Q1 2015 up 15.5 per cent against Q1 2014

The number of passengers having transited through the airports close to the Romanian capital city saw a 15.5 per cent increase in Q1 this year, as compared with the same interval of last year, with the Bucharest Henri Coanda International Airport and the Bucharest Baneasa Aurel Vlaicu International Airport scoring together a record traffic of 1,809,228 passengers, the Bucharest National Airport Company (CNAB) informed on Monday.

Moreover, the Bucharest National Airport Company recorded a total of 23,961 aircraft movements (landings or takeoffs) in Q1, on the two airports.

Overall, the Henri Coanda Airport recorded 1,808,332 passengers and 19,441 aircraft movements.

Bucharest's airports also saw an increase in the number of aircraft movements, a sector in which they also exceeded the European trend. Thus, in January-March, the number of aircraft movements (landings or takeoffs) on the Bucharest airports increased by 12.6 per cent compared with the same interval of last year.

In 2014, the two airports in Bucharest were transited by 8,321,858 passengers, with the total number of aircraft movements (landings and takeoffs) standing at 102,048.

There are 31 airlines currently operating on the Bucharest Henri Coanda International Airport, carrying passengers to 70 destinations. AGERPRES
