Levy: Serbian, Jewish peoples bound together by deep bonds

BELGRADE - The Embassy of Israel in Belgrade held a reception on the occasion of its Independence Day, during which Ambassador Yossef Levy said that the Serbian and Jewish peoples are bound together by deep bonds, historical ties and fight for identity.

I believe in the Serbian economy, Serbian spirit and the future of Serbia, and that is not just a vision and imagination, but reality for sure. I think that the worst is behind both of our countries, and that our cooperation will be one of the strongest pillars of the Serbian-Jewish friendship, Levy told Tanjug on Thursday evening.

Speaking about the cooperation between the two countries, Levy said that there is still room for improvement, and that there are big prospects for that to happen in the fields of agriculture, advanced technology and construction.

We have just scratched the surface of vast possibilities, he said.

The reception at the Metropol Palace Hotel brought together Serbia's Parliament Speaker Maja Gojkovic, government officials, representatives of the diplomatic corps, religious communities, politicians, culture and public figures.
