Romanian film to premiere at the European Film Festival's opening gala

Romanian film "Acasa la tata" (At Dad's) directed by Andrei Cohn will be screened on May 7 as a premiere at the opening gala of the 19th edition of the European Film Festival.

The Romanian Culture Institute (ICR) reports that the travelling European Film Festival ? in Bucharest May 7-14, Craiova May 15-17, Iasi and Targu Mures May 22-24 as well as in Hunedoara, May 29-31 offers film lovers 56 productions, including drama, comedy, biographies, shorts, documentaries and animations from 26 European countries.

The festival is organised by ICR and the Representation of the European Commission in Romania, under the aegis of the European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC), with support from embassies and cultural centres from European countries.

"What we offer this year is a regale of European filmmaking. I am glad to see that Romania's presence is remarkable, including the feature debuts of directors Ana Lungu and Andrei Cohn, the day of Romanian films and a selection of short films by students of the National University of Performing Arts and Filmmaking (UNATC)," ICR Deputy Chair Liviu Jicman is quoted by ICR as saying.

In Bucharest, film screenings will be held at Cinema PRO, Cinema Studio and Elvira Popescu.

The European Film Festival offers the public ten European premiers for Romania, a 2015 Oscar winning film, a Tudor Giurgiu retrospect and many related events ? film criticism and cinema education for students workshops, Anim'est children's animation workshop, multimedia projections and live concerts.

The spectators will be able to vote for their favourite film in the festival. The public prize will be presented at the closing gala of May 14.
