PM Ponta pays working visit to Strasbourg on Tuesday

Prime Minister Victor Ponta on Tuesday pays a working visit to Strasbourg for a series of meetings with European high officials, informs a Government press release remitted to AGERPRES.

The Prime Minister will meet European Parliament President Martin Schulz, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, First Vice-President of the European Commission Frans Timmermans, European Commission Vice-President Jyrki Katainen and European Commissioners Vera Jourova and Margrethe Vestager.

"The Prime Minister will present, in the discussions with the European officials, the evolutions in economy and the recent measures Romania's Government adopted in the economic and social area and, at the same time, will have an opinion exchange on topical issues on the European agenda, with a focus on the Juncker Investment Plan, the Economic and Monetary Union, the Energy Union and the situation in the eastern neighbourhood, in the prospects of the Summit of Riga, to be held in May 2015," the Government announces.

The cited source also points out that Victor Ponta will also present Romania's progress within the Cooperation and Verification Mechanism and will approach "aspects concerning the state-aid within the European Commission's assistance programme for Romania."

In Strasbourg, the Prime Minister will also have meetings with European Parliament members. AGERPRES
