Serbian mountains visited by record number of skiers

BELGRADE - Over 233,000 skiers visited Serbia during the ski season, which is 40 percent more compared to the previous season, says Dejan Ljevnaic, CEO of the Ski Resorts of Serbia public enterprise.

The number of skiers in Serbia is growing constantly, and the 2014/2015 ski season will also be remembered for February 15, which broke the record in terms of the number of skiers in a day, Ljevnaic said in a statement to Tanjug.

On that day, over 9,500 visitors skied in the Mt Kopaonik ski resort, while the Mt Stara Planina and Mt Kopaonik resorts each had 2,000 visitors, Ljevnaic said.

Ljevnaic said that he expects the summer season to also break the record in the number of visitors because, he noted, Ski Resorts of Serbia has worked actively over the past three years on promoting the country's mountains during that time of the year as well.
