President Iohannis promises best possible medical care to soldiers wounded in Afghanistan

President Klaus Iohannis wished the Romanian troops wounded on Thursday in Afghanistan to get well soon; he assured he was standing by them, and promised them the best possible medical care.

"My thought goes to our troops wounded in Afghanistan. I am standing by them in these hard times and wish they get well soon. I promise the families of the wounded that our troops will get the best medical care," the President said in a message.

Four Romanian soldiers of the Resolute Support mission in Afghanistan were wounded around 9am local time on Thursday by the explosion of a car bomb, the National Defence Ministry announced.

According to the ministry, the troops were in a ground patrol mission around eight kilometres from the Kandahar military base. They got first aid on the spot and were carried to the hospital of Kandahar, where they are now admitted in stable condition.

Defence Minister Mircea Dusa declared the four were not seriously wounded. AGERPRES
