Japanese Ambassador to Serbia Masafumi Kuroki presented a donation of the Japanese government worth EUR 77,995 to the retirement home in Obrenovac.

The donation consists of equipment that should provide better conditions for nursing home residents.

This year, the Japanese government provided donations amounting to EUR 8 million to help eliminate the consequences of floods in Serbia. Grants in Obrenovac are intended for the retirement home, health center and preschool institutions, Ambassador Kuroki said on the occasion.

State Secretary in the Ministry of Labor, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs Nenad Ivanisevic thanked the people and government of Japan on behalf of the Serbian government for all donations they have made.

Japan has always responded quickly when it comes to sending assistance in all the troubles that have befallen Serbia in recent decades, Ivanisevic said.

Starting from 1999, the total amount of Japanese assistance through projects for the basic needs of the population in Serbia was around EUR 11 million, and Japan's total assistance to Serbia in the same period exceeded EUR 460 million.
