Iohannis: Eudoxiu Hurmuzachi Cultural Centre of Cernauti, a reference for Romanians

In a message on Sunday for the opening of the Eudoxiu Hurmuzachi Romanian Cultural Centre in Cernauti, Ukraine, Romania's President Klaus Iohannis says the centre is a reference for Romanians.

'Let me congratulate you on the special achievement we are witnessing today: a perfectly functional Romanian cultural centre located in the heart of Cernauti City. Please, accept my respect and commendation for your efforts. This centre is more than just a cultural organisation, it is the expression of an identity and deep attachment to it. We are all united by a communion of traditions, language, history as well as common values and aspirations. We are passing through a time full of multiple challenges. We all want a safe and prosperous region, where democracy and peace are fundamental markers. That is why I say every time I get the opportunity that Romania is a supporter of Ukraine's European journey,' Iohannis says in a message delivered to the participant in the opening of the centre by presidential adviser Sergiu Nistor.

Iohannis also commends the steadiness of the representatives of the new centre, underscoring that 'no perfect circumstances have to be awaited in order to support education and culture, invest in them and put them back in their rightful place in society.'

'Your effort and its outcome, the Eudoxiu Hurmuzachi Romanian Cultural Centre, are a reference you point to Romanians and the authorities.
