INS: Trade balance deficit exceeds 1.372 bn euros in Q1

Trade balance deficit exceeded 1.372 billion euros in Q1 2015, up by 235.4 million euros compared to the same period of the previous year, according to the data released on Monday by the National Statistics Institute (INS).

In the first three months of this year, exports and imports increased by 4.9 per cent and 6.3 per cent respectively compared to Q1 2014.

In Q1 2015, FOB exports totaled 13.381 billion euros, while CIF imports totaled 14.753 billion euros. The trade balance deficit (FOB/CIF) in Q1 2015 was 1.372 billion euros, up by 253.4 million euros from Q1 2014.

In March 2015, FOB exports stood at 4.802 billion euros, CIF imports were worth 5.614 billion euros, having resulted in higher deficit by 261.9 million euros than that in March 2014, the INS informs.

According to institution, compared to February 2015, exports and imports in March rose by 9.3 per cent and by 17.6 per cent respectively.

The value of intra-EU trade (Intra-EU28) in Q1 2015 was worth over 9.937 billion euros in terms of exports and 11.343 billion euros in terms of imports, representing 74.3 per cent of total exports and 76.9 per cent of total imports.

As for the extra trade value of goods (Extra-UE28) reveals INS in the first quarter it exceeded EUR 3.443 billion in exports and imports 3.409 billion euros, representing 25.7 per cent of total exports and 23.1 per cent of total imports.
