President Iohannis to meet Pope Francis at the Vatican on Friday

President Klaus Iohannis will visit on Thursday the Universal Expo 2015 in Milan, and will be received the next day at the Vatican by Pope Francis, the Presidential Administration informs.

Before leaving for Milan, the Romanian head of state will make a press statement at the "Henri Coanda" International Airport of Bucharest, around 9:45 a.m.

In Milan, Iohannis will visit the Universal Exhibition 2015 themed "Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life," where he will visit the pavilions of Romania, the Holy See and Italy. On the same day, President Iohannis will meet with representatives of the Romanian community in Milan.

On Friday, the President has scheduled an official visit to the Vatican, where he will meet with Pope Francis and Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin; Iohannis will also visit St. Peter's Basilica, where the tomb of Pope John Paul II resides. Iohannis will offer a reception in honor of Cardinal Pietro Parolin, and will visit the "Pio Romeno" Pontifical College, where he will meet with Romanian students of pontifical universities in Rome.

On Saturday, Iohannis will meet with the leadership of the Community of Sant' Egidio and will visit the Basilica of Santa Maria in Trastevere.
