30 museums and 20 cultural organizations open for Night of Museums in Bucharest

Nearly 30 museums, among which, as a first, the National Bank of Romania Museum, and 20 cultural organizations will be open on the Night of Museums 2015 in Bucharest, on Saturday night, ready to offer visitors a diverse programme of events that includes exhibitions, children's workshops, concerts, film projections, as well as ballet and pantomime shows.

This year's edition will be a special one, being marked by a protest initiated by the National Network of Museums of Romania (RNMR), the organizers of the Night of Museums.

Thus, the participating museums will present one notable item of their collections draped in black cloth, in order to raise awareness with the visitors that the object may become inaccessible for viewing in the near future due to the rate by which museums and museum collections are disappearing due to restitution cases.

The event will see the participation of the National Art Museum of Romania that offers up for visits the National Gallery as well as secondary galleries, as well as the picture frames of pictures ordered to be restituted recently. Furthermore, the Art Collection Museum will offer up the exhibition "Art treasures of prof. I. Chiricuta's collection".

The National History Museum of Romania will participate in the event by organizing workshops of museum education, a parade of vintage costumes, themed guides in the permanent and temporary exhibitions of the museum, as well as music and dance shows.

The National Literature Museum of Romania will open up to visitors the Tudor Arghezi Memorial Home, while the Bucharest City Museum will open up, for the first time, eight museum buildings: The Victor Babes Museum, the Ligia and Pompiliu Macovei...
