Fights and slaughter between immigrants on a half-sunk ship

Burma and Bangladeshi immigrants began fighting each other with machetes and iron rods on a boat sailing near Indonesia, which is also in danger of sinking. Survivors speak of 100 dead.

 

Immigrants from both sides speak of fearsome and bloody battles on the overloaded ship which was abandoned by its crew last week, with migrants slaughtering each other to get some of the ever-decreasing food supplies.

 

Many were killed by machetes, others jumped in the sea to avoid the fighting, while many who survived were collected by fishermen who transported them to shore.
