Steaua thus managed to complete its first successful double (championship and Romanian Cup) after 1997, the Army Men managing to win their 22nd Romanian Cup.

Steaua dominated the game through the goals scored by Adrian Popa early in each half (9, 53), who was named man of the match at the conclusion of the match, and Raul Rusescu (48), against a team who will play in the second tier of the Romanian championship next season.
