MAE: Secretary of state George Ciamba meets Lithuanian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Neris Germanas

The two high-ranked officials hailed the 'excellent' level of the political dialogue and the close cooperation at European level, grounded in the shared vision about of a special interest on the European agenda as the implications of the reform process of the European Neighbourhood Policy and the developments in the Eastern Vicinity.

Secretary of state for European affairs, George Ciamba, on Tuesday discussed with the Lithuanian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Neris Germanas, currently paying a visit to Bucharest, on matters of a common interest at the level of the European Union, topical issues on the international agenda and also on aspects regarding the current stage of bilateral relations between Romania and Lithuania, informs a release of the Romanian Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE) to AGERPRES.

The two high-ranked officials hailed the 'excellent' level of the political dialogue and the close cooperation at European level, grounded in the shared vision about of a special interest on the European agenda as the implications of the reform process of the European Neighbourhood Policy and the developments in the Eastern Vicinity.

'They also had an exchange of opinions on such topics of a current interest on the European agenda as migration, energy security and the recent developments in the Eastern vicinity. The two diplomats underscored the complexity of strategic challenges determined by the situation in Ukraine and the need of an unitary approach at the European Union level, including in terms of the sanctions regime against the Russian Federation. Moreover, they emphasized on the need of a collective effort to ensure the security and stability needed in order to normalize the situation in the region,' informed MAE.

The two officials mentioned 'how difficult it is for Ukraine to implement the necessary reforms, in the current security context.' Moreover, they presented an assessment of the results of the Eastern Partnership Summit that took place in Riga, on May 22-23 this year.
