Romanian troops participate in multinational drill European Air Transport Training, in Portugal

The exercise, which will take place at the Beja Air Base No. 11, will be attended by about 550 soldiers from 11 European countries (Romania, Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Lithuania, the UK, the Netherlands, Portugal and Sweden), to operate with 15 C-130 Hercules, C-160 Transall, C-295 Casa, C-235 AWACS, P-3 Orion and C-27J Spartan transport aircraft, and also with F-16 Fighting Falcon and EH-101 combat helicopters.

A detachment of the Romanian Air Forces, made of 22 soldiers, pilots, technical and engineering staff and specialists in planning, with a transport aircraft C-27J Spartan belonging to the 90th Airlift Base will participate, between June 15 to 26, in the multinational exercise "European Air Transport Training 15", in Portugal, under the coordination of EDA (European Defence Agency) and the EATC (European Air Transport Command), informs a press release of the National Defence Ministry.

The main objective of the exercise lies in practicing and strengthening techniques, tactics and procedures for the execution of air transport missions, either during daytime or nighttime, flying at low height, landing on short runways, coordinating actions of the air forces with the land forces, reaction of the air crew to threats from the ground ? air and air ? air, as well as in sharing experience on aircraft maintenance in the multinational teams.
