Thunderstorms, Possible Hails Expected Across Bulgaria

Thunderstorms and prolific rains are expected in the early evening hours of Wednesday evening across Southern Bulgaria.

Meteorologists from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences have issued code orange on account of the dangerous weather for the municipalities of Pazardzhik, Plovdiv, Smolyan, Kardzhali and Haskovo.

There might be hails and possible damages. Meanwhile, code yellow on account of the expected heavy rains is expected in Stara Zagora and Blagoevgrad. It is expected that the rain will reach levels as high as 30-40 liters per m2.

Rivers Tundzha, Maritsa and Arda as well as some parts of Mesta and Struma might overflow, according to information provided by the Ministry of Environment and Waters. The same danger may apply to the Elhovska River near Rudozem, Cherna Reka near Smolyan and Varbitsa near Zlatograd.
