Former Chamber of Commerce head Mihail Vlasov to serve five years in prison

The Bucharest Court of Appeals had condemned Vlasov to a prison term of four years, but the National Anticorruption Directorate appealed this sentence and won.

The High Court of Cassation and Justice (ICCJ Romania's Supreme Court) sentenced on Thursday Mihail Vlasov, the former Chair of the Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, to five years in prison for influence peddling.

The Bucharest Court of Appeals had condemned Vlasov to a prison term of four years, but the National Anticorruption Directorate appealed this sentence and won.

The ICCJ ruling is final ? no more appeals are possible. AGERPRES
