Pakistan heat wave claims 1,000 lives

The heat wave roiling over southern Pakistan is the worst for 35 years, according to new data. The death toll due to the extreme phenomenon has risen to 1,000.

 

Most of the deaths took place in Karachi, the largest city in the country.

 

Morgues no longer have enough space to receive the deceased. Most of the victims of the extreme temperatures have been the poor and laborers working in fields. The number of dead is expected to reach 1,500 before the heat wave is out.
