FMP's Diaconescu: PMP should publicly self-define as leaning Right

The People's Movement Party (PMP) should introduce itself to the public as a party that is leaning right, Chairman of the People's Movement Foundation (FMP) Cristian Diaconescu told a convention on Sunday in Pitesti, southern Romania, of PMP's National College.

"There is no more postponing the time of decision making. The party is no longer at preliminary stages, but at a stage when it has to act and publicly unveil its political and ideological lines it follows. The party today has to self-define as leaning Right. (...) So, please, in all your public rhetoric instances you should say and repeat that we are a right-leaning party. Not a centre party, or some ambiguous party, but a Right party," said Diaconescu.

He added that there are consequences to the party being a Rightist party that the PMP members have to undertake.

"The consequences regard the positioning of a Right party in relation to what is happening today in the Romanian political landscape. (...) If it wants to exist on the political market of Romania, PMP should express itself in actual, clear professional terms. This is no longer a time for improvisation," said Diaconescu. AGERPRES
