Bulgaria's Industrial Output Rises by 0.4% M/M in May

According to preliminary figures of the National Statistical Institute (NSI), which were released on Wednesday, the index of industrial production in May increased by 0.4 % compared to the previous month.

The figures also show that the industrial production index increased by 3.9 % compared to May 2014.

On a monthly basis, an increase was measured in the processing and extraction industries, while the production and distribution of electricity, thermal power and gas registered a decrease.

As regards the processing industry, considerable growth was recorded in the production of transport vehicles (excluding automobiles), maintenance and installation of machines and equipment, production of metal articles (excluding machines and equipment), production of other non-metal mineral raw materials, paper and cardboard manufacturing.

Drops were noted in leather production, chemical production, manufacture of furniture and production of timber and wooden articles (excluding furniture).

On an annual basis, there was increase in the production and distribution of electricity, thermal power and gas.

Increase was registered in the production of transport vehicles (excluding automobiles), maintenance and installation and equipment, manufacture of electrical facilities, production of metal articles (excluding machines and equipment) as well as car manufacture.

There was a decrease in the production of chemical products, manufacture of clothes, production of timber and wooden articles (excluding furniture) and manufacture of tobacco articles.
