Monsoons have resulted in the deaths of hundreds of people across Asia as rescue workers tried to access remote areas in India, Myanmar and Pakistan in the wake of floods and landslides. Indian authorities estimate 120 people have been killed in recent days, while more than a million have been displaced as heavy rains made the situation even worse.

Rescuers on Monday resumed their search in Manipur in their effort to locate villagers after torrential rains caused landslides. Local authorities say  four dead bodies were pulled out a hamlet buried by a collapsed hill.

In Myanmar 46 people have been killed so far, while hundreds of thousands are trapped on roof top-high floods. Villagers have been forced to use makeshift rafts to escape the rising waters. Thousands of people are in camps after being forced to abandon their inundated homes. The United Nations warned the swollen rivers were threatening more areas of the country.

Ahmed Kamal Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Agency spokesperson told AFP that more than 850 thousand people have been affected by this year’s floods.
