Shocking GD video shows apparent reference to murder of rapper (vid)

Magda Fyssa, mother of slain anti-fascist rapper Pavlos Fyssas, testified during an emotional session at a makeshift court at Korydallos prison. She said that the ultra-nationalist Golden Dawn (GD) party had ordered the assassination of her son on September 18, 2013.

“(Piraeus MP Yiannis) Lagos gave the order. he gave the OK,” she said, referring to the stabbing by GD Giorgos Roupakias. She said that the party’s leader Nikos Michaloliakos had the “ultimate responsibility” for the murder.

Even today, the family of Fyssas is harrassed with GD “visits” outside their home. Leaving the witness stand, she threw her plastic bottle of water at Roupakias.

A video that was not allowed in court was leaked to Efimerida ton Syntakton on Tuesday, showing GD Nikaia branch leader Giorgos Patelis, the man who spoke on the telephone with Lagos on the night of the hit. In the video, he refers to an attack. “Certqain people will get messages for the 15th of the month… if I get the OK from Lagos. If I don’t, we won’t do it.” This is believed to be in reference to the hit. He also states, “there’ll be nothing left standing! Nothing! Anything that moves will be slaughtered!”

Party support slumped after the murder of a counter-culture rapper in September 2013, that was blamed on one of its neighborhood chapters. This development led to the arrest of most of its deputies, including leader Nikos Michaloliakos, on charges of founding and leading a criminal organization. The party is known for violent attacks against migrants and its street “rumbles” with rival far-leftists and self-styled anarchists. Despite scandal, the party was euphoric after coming in third during the Sept. 20 elections.
