Iran, Bulgaria Sign MoU on Transit Corridor Bypassing Turkey - Report

Transport officials of Iran and Bulgaria have agreed to open a corridor crossing Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, and the Black Sea, Iran's private news agency Mehr reported on Sunday.

The Memorandum of Understanding signed between Iran and Bulgaria provides for facilitating visa issuance and ferry services to link the two countries with a transit corridor via Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, and the Black Sea, Mehr quoted an Iranian transport official as saying on Saturday.

The transit corridor linking Iran and Bulgaria will avoid a route across Turkey that has been a target of terrorists attacks over the past months, Mehr said.

No comment was immediately available from Bulgaria's Transport Ministry.
