Mr. Ugly contest goes awry as judges are accused of bias!

Maison Sere, aged 42, was the unemployed man crowned Zimbabwe’s ugliest man at a pub pageant in Harare. Missing several teeth and dressed in torn overalls he beat the five other contestant and came away with the $500 Mr. Ugly prize – a large sum for a country where there is massive unemployment.

The runner up, William Masvinu, a three-time Mr. Ugly winner who took the $100 second prize in 2014, accused the judges of bias turning the pub pageant into pub brawl.

“The judges were not fair, the organizers must look for new judges to start the contest afresh,” said Masvinu. “I did not lose today.”

The contest was created in 2012 to celebrate ugliness and the beauty of ugliness.
