Anonymous hacktivists take down ISIS with viagra and prozac

Anonymous hacktivists took down Isdrat, the ISIS site, less than a week after it first appeared on the Tor browser of the dark web by inundating it with advertisements for anti-depressant Prozac and Viagra drugs for erectile dysfunction. In this way, the group sent a message urging extremists to calm down. Anonymous statement was:

“Too Much ISIS. Enhance your calm. Too many people are into this ISIS-stuff. Please gaze upon this lovely ad so we can upgrade our infrastructure to give you ISIS content you all so desperately crave.”

Following the Paris attacks, Anonymous launched a campaign against ISIS-affiliated sites with hundreds of sites and thousand’s of Twitter accounts rendered inaccessible over the last few weeks.

Fearing exposure, ISIS has retreated to the dark web, the part of the internet that is inaccessible through traditional search engines or social media, but through Tor browsers that allow users to hide their IP addresses. Even so, hacktivists managed to infiltrate Isdrat and is moving to cause more problems while ISIA is clamoring to protect the identities of its members.

UK Security Minister John Hayes praised hacktivists for their counter terrorism work on Tuesday, saying he is “grateful for any of those who are engaged in the battle against this kind of wickedness.”
