New York Times: Thessaloniki is one of the top destinations for 2016

The New York Times announced the best places to visit in 2016 and included Thessaloniki, “Greece’s second-largest city which is first in food” in its list.

The U.S. newspaper compiled a list with 52 places that one should visit in 2016 with Mexico City in No1.

“Greece’s second-largest city is first in food” says the article for Thessaloniki highlighting the city as one of the best culinary destination.

“The young professionals of this northern Greek city have faced the country’s high levels of unemployment in an unusual way: They opened restaurants that put a modern twist on traditional Greek, Slavic and Ottoman flavors”.

Among the best restaurants, The New York Times include Sebrico, Roots and Estrella.

“Encouraged by a vibrant student population and a visionary mayor, Greece’s second-largest city has become a capital of cheap eats.”
