Japan volcano erupts with fiery lightning

Japan’s Sakurajima volcano located 30 miles from the Sendai nuclear power plant has erupted spewing lava and ash 2Km into the sky.

The Meteorological Agency said the eruption began at around 7pm local time, while it banned entry to the area expanding an existing no-go zone around the crater to a 1.2-mile radius.

The volcano had shown signs of activity since August 2015 and authorities had warned residents to be prepared for an eruption.

There have been no reports of any injuries.
