Bulgaria's Tsvetana Pironkova Reaches Quarterfinals in San Antonio

The highest ranking Bulgarian female tennis player Tsvetana Pironkova reached the quarterfinals of the San Antonio Open.

In a match from the second round, Pironkova defeated Lauren Davis from the USA with 6:3, 6:2.

The Bulgarian was the first to concede a break in the fourth game, but managed to return it in the next game. After achieving a second break later on, Pironkova closed the opening set.

The second set began with the two players exchanging breaks. After establishing a 3:1 lead, Pironkova kept the advantage until the end and claimed the final victory.

The Bulgarian has not yet conceded a set in the tournament after she won her opening match against Casey Dellacqua from Australia with 6:1, 6:0.

In the quarterfinals, Pironkova will face Donna Vekic from Croatia. In their recent encounter in Indian Wells, the Bulgarian won with 6:2, 7:5.
