Athens bus route returns to meet tourist demand

The bus route linking Piraeus port, the Acropolis and Syntagma in the city center is back in service as of Tuesday, according to the Athens Urban Transport Organization (OASA).

The X80-Piraeus-Acropolis-Syntagma Express bus route had been canceled due to reduced passenger use and is being reinstated in anticipation of an upsurge in tourist flows to Athens and an increase in cruise liners docking at Piraeus port.

The X80 bus covers a 25-kilometer circular route in 60 to 70 minutes, starting from the cruise liner terminals at Piraeus (Akti Xavierou and Akti Miaouli) and ending at Syntagma Square. The route has 15 stops, including the Acropolis Museum, the Archaeological Museum of Piraeus, the Athens Planetarium, the Municipal Theater of Piraeus and the National Museum of Contemporary Art.
