One Dance Week Begins in Plovdiv with Tributes to Pop Art, Kraftwerk Music

The ninth edition of the International festival of contemporary dance and performance One Dance Week starts on October 09, organizers have said.

Like every year, the festival will be a portal to new dance phenomenons, presenting 9 performances from 3 continents - Europe, Asia and America. Nine different stories will be told through the dance.The performances will impress with fascinating and attractive approach, with movement vocabulary, sound landscapes - all created by famous bands and musicians and an incredible lightening design.

The opening night is dedicated to physicality and elegance of modern dance, with the renowned American choreographer Stephen Petronio presenting his Bloodlines project.

For the first time the public in Bulgaria can see the emblematic miniatures RainForest and Glacial Decoy created by the legends of modern dance, Merce Cunningham and Trisha Brown, and at 18:00 (EEST) on October 09 the visitors of Boris Hristov House of Culture will experience the Stephen Petronio show In Motion, which celebrates the 30th anniversary of the creation of his dance company.

On October 13,at 19:30,the Boris Hristov House of Culture will host the Are Friends Electric? show by choreographer Yuval Pick, director of Chorégraphique de Rillieux-la-Pape, France, that takes you on a journey with the music of Kraftwerk. The visit of Centre Chorégraphique National de Rillieux-la-Pape is happening with the support of French Institute in Bulgaria, Embassy of the Republic of France and Societe Generale Expressbank.
