Busek: Referendum in RS not beneficial to Serbia or Balkans

BELGRADE - The referendum in Republika Srpska and the outcome of the vote are not beneficial to Srpska or BiH, and the Balkans, too, will be faced with its consequences, says the former coordinator of the Stability Pact for South Eastern Europe, Austrian politician Erhard Busek.

When asked by the Danas daily what the consequences of the referendum might be, Busek said that there will be "decreased internal stability in BiH, which will create numerous problems for the current Serbian government".

The "very rational line that PM Vucic is advocating in Serbia will encounter difficulties", but he will overcome them, Busek said.

When asked if the referendum is a sign of increased Russian influence, Busek responded negatively, adding that it is a result of "senseless behavior of politicians, not only in RS, but also in the region".
