Fraport eyes boost in passenger numbers at Makedonia

Fraport has said that it intends to increase passenger traffic at Thessaloniki's Makedonia airport by 48 percent in the next decade, after 5.3 million passengers passed through Greece's second-largest airport last year.

"Thessaloniki is taking off," Fraport Greece said on Wednesday while presenting its plans for the biggest of the 14 airports it has leased in the country.

These plans include the improvement of the terminal's facilities, its image and the services it offers passengers.

The terminal will be renovated and modernized, while there will be a reorganization of the airport's commercial spaces too.

Fraport will also start working toward new agreements with airlines and other enterprises so as to extend the tourism season and boost the overall tourism market, placing an emphasis on markets that already have a strong presence in Thessaloniki.
